The Evolution Racewerks cat-less racing downpipe for F87 M2 Competition, F80 M3, F82 M4 eliminates the stock catalytic converter for unimpeded flow. The ER S55 downpipe is Made in the USA from 304 grade stainless steel and mandrel-bent piping. It is a direct fit replacement for the stock downpipe, even re-using the original V-Band flange connection and including a flexible pipe section. Brackets and O2 sensor bungs are also stainless and TIG welded. The O2 bung is in the factory location (an additional O2 bung can be added, please inquire). Piping diameters and shapes have been carefully engineered to minimize turbulence and backpressure.
The factory catalytic converter is very restrictive which robs a lot of horsepower and torque but works great for cleaning the exhaust gases. However, a track/racing car no longer needs the catalytic converter so removing it makes sense. By deleting the cat the turbo can spin more freely and with less strain. This not only makes more power and torque but helps the turbo last longer. Removing the cat also saves weight and eliminates the possibility of the catalytic honeycomb material breaking down and causing a total blockage.
This downpipe is used with the factory gaskets and hardware. Any M2/M3/M4 exhaust after the downpipe will be compatible.
Three coating finishes: mirror polished, brushed silver, or black thermal ceramic. Black ceramic helps to lower underhood temps and minimize heat soak. By containing heat inside the downpipe, exhaust velocity stays higher, improving turbo spool and throttle response.
Notice of Fault Codes/Check Engine Light - Using any Racing downpipe could result in a check engine light and fault codes, even with sport cats. Although we have heard of cases where no check engine light appeared, these Racing downpipes are not designed to meet emissions testing and regulations. Race software that is specific to your mods is strongly advised to better adapt your car to a racing environment, keep the fault codes from appearing, optimize power gains, and improve general drivability.
